Remove PDF Password

Something went wrong
Lift PDF restrictions in three steps
Drop in the password-protected PDF, or a whole batch of them.
Enter the password you normally use to open it. Files that only block printing or copying need none.
Save the password-free copy, or send it straight to a converter, your saved documents or the editor.
Type the password one last time
Opens without a prompt from now on
The copy you download has no encryption left, so colleagues, clients or your own archive can open it in any reader without asking anyone for the code.
Built for a stack of files
Load a batch, type a shared password once and it is reused on every remaining file. Anything you have no code for can be skipped while the others carry on.
A friendly password box
A Show button reveals what you typed, a Caps Lock warning appears when needed, and a wrong guess lets you try again on the spot instead of starting over.
Searchable, editable output
Because the document is decrypted rather than photographed, you can still search it, copy its text and fill its forms after the lock is gone.
Remove PDF password protection for everyday paperwork
Lots of documents arrive locked: a monthly bank statement, a payslip from HR, a signed lease from an estate agent, a course reader from a university. Typing the same code every time you open them gets old fast. This tool takes the lock off once and hands you a clean copy to keep.
Who uses it and for what
- Office and HR teams archiving payslips and contracts so the folder can be searched later.
- Freelancers who receive protected briefs and want to annotate them in the PDF editor.
- Students and teachers whose handouts refuse to print, which is a permissions lock the tool clears with no code.
- Real estate and admin work, where a locked contract must be merged with other pages or converted to Word.
What you need before you start
Just the password that opens the document today. If the file opens on its own and merely blocks printing, copying or editing, you need nothing at all. The tool handles RC4 and AES protection up to 256-bit, the password schemes defined by the PDF standard.
What comes back
A file called yourfile-unlocked.pdf with identical pages, fonts, links and bookmarks. On the rare document that cannot be decrypted cleanly, the pages are rebuilt as high-resolution images with hidden searchable text, and the result screen says so.
Limits worth knowing
Files sealed with a digital certificate or a publisher's DRM plugin have no password to remove, so they stay locked. Taking the protection off also breaks any digital signature, so keep the original if the signature matters. Only process documents that belong to you or that you are allowed to change.

Questions people ask about this task
How do I remove a password from a PDF permanently?
Open the file here, enter its password once and download the new copy. That copy is saved without encryption, so it never asks for the password again.
Do I need to install any software to do this?
No. Everything happens in an up-to-date web browser on a computer, tablet or phone, with nothing to install and no account to create.
I forgot my PDF password. Can you recover it?
Sorry, no. This toolbox only works with a password you already know and never tries to break or guess one. Ask whoever sent the document for the code.
My statement opens fine but printing is greyed out. What can I do?
That file has only a permissions lock. Drop it in and the lock is lifted without any password, so the new copy prints and lets you copy text.
Why does it say my password is wrong?
The check is case-sensitive, so a stray Caps Lock or a different keyboard layout is the usual cause. Accented and non-Latin characters are accepted, so type the code exactly as it was given to you.
Will my file or password end up on a server?
No. The decryption runs inside the browser tab on your own device, and neither the document nor the code you type is sent anywhere.
