Quick guide

Get PDF tables into Excel

01

Drag in the PDF that holds your table. Several files are fine, and each one turns into a separate workbook.

02

Flip through the live preview page by page, then decide how the data should be split: by page, by table or stacked on a single sheet.

03

Pick XLSX, ODS or CSV, press Convert to Excel and save the result straight from your browser.

What you get

Built for people who need the data, not the PDF

Layout-aware column detection

The toolbox reads where each word sits on the page, so even tables drawn without any grid lines come out with the right columns. A heading stretched over two columns turns into a merged cell.

Formulas work on day one

Totals, prices and percentages arrive as values Excel can add up, with their currency sign kept in the cell format. Dates written as 2025-04-03 or April 3, 2025 become date cells you can sort and filter.

Multi-page reports, one clean list

A statement that runs over many pages can be merged into a single sheet. The header row printed at the top of every page is kept only once, so filters and pivot tables work right away.

Paper documents welcome

Got a scanned delivery note or a photographed price list? Built-in text recognition reads it in your browser in one of 20 languages before the table is rebuilt. No program to download.

Extract tables from PDF to XLSX: real-world uses

A PDF is great for printing and terrible for analysis. The moment you need to total a column, compare two months or import a list into another system, the data has to live in a spreadsheet. This free tool rebuilds the grid from the PDF itself, right in your browser tab, so private figures are never sent anywhere.

Who uses it, and for what

  • Offices and bookkeepers: turn monthly bank statements into one sheet and reconcile them against the ledger with a lookup formula.
  • Freelancers: collect the line items of supplier invoices and quotes to track expenses for tax season.
  • HR teams: move payroll summaries and timesheet reports into a workbook to check hours and overtime.
  • Real estate agents: rework a developer's unit price list so it can be sorted by size, floor or price per square metre.
  • Teachers and students: reuse statistics tables from research papers and grade reports for charts and homework.

Getting a clean sheet the first time

Before converting, open the preview on the page that matters most: cells read as numbers or dates are tinted in their own colour, so you can spot a misread column early. Statements printed sideways on landscape pages are read in their own direction. If your PDF asks for a password, enter it in the prompt; it is used only to open the file locally.

Know the edge cases

Charts, nested tables and vertical column labels are not turned into cells, so plan a quick tidy-up for those. For blurry scans, set the OCR language to match the document and double-check figures against the original.

Answers

Questions people ask about this task

How do I extract a table from a PDF without installing software?

Open this page in any modern browser and add the PDF. Check the table in the preview, choose XLSX and press Convert to Excel; no desktop program or account is involved.

Can I pull just one table out of a long PDF?

Yes. Type the page numbers into the Pages field, for example 4 or 7-9, and select "One sheet per table" so every table you get sits on a sheet of its own, labelled with its page.

What happens to a page that has text but no table?

With "Tables only" selected its text is skipped. Choose "All text" to keep headings and notes as well, and if a file has no table at all, its lines are exported row by row so nothing is lost.

Does it handle European number formats like 1.234,56?

Yes. The tool looks at the whole document to tell a decimal comma from a decimal point and to decide whether dates start with the day or the month. Both can be fixed by hand under Advanced options.

Will IBANs or product codes turn into broken numbers?

No. Values with leading zeros, like 00451, and numbers with more than 15 digits stay as text, so account numbers and SKUs are copied exactly.

Can I get a CSV file for my accounting app instead?

Yes. Choose CSV under Save as. Each sheet becomes its own UTF-8 file, and when there are several they come bundled in one ZIP download.
