Quick guide

Sharpen and brighten a photo

01

Drop in a single picture or a stack of them. iPhone HEIC files are accepted alongside JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP and GIF.

02

Let Auto choose the fix, or switch to Photo, Document or Old photo, set the size to 2x or 4x and drag the slider to see the difference.

03

Press Enhance, then grab each finished file or one ZIP containing the whole set.

What you get

What the toolbox does for each picture

Sizes up cleanly

Small pictures grow to double or four times their width and height. The enlargement happens in gentle 2x stages, and a final sharpening pass works on brightness only, so outlines look defined instead of soft or rainbow-edged.

Reads the picture before touching it

The tool checks how grainy, dark or tinted every file is. A clean shot gets light treatment, a murky one gets more, and pages that look like paper are handled as documents automatically.

Fine control when you want it

Seven sliders (levels, white balance, brightness, noise reduction, clarity, sharpness, saturation) plus two switches for specks and paper backgrounds let you override the preset. Quality for JPG and WebP is adjustable from 50 to 100.

Nothing to install, nothing sent away

The work happens in a background process of the browser tab you already have open. No program to download, no login, no stamp on your output, and a whole batch of pictures can be done in one go.

Upscale and sharpen photos for everyday jobs

A picture that is too small, too soft or too murky slows down a lot of ordinary work. This free tool from Best-Converter enlarges and crisps it up directly in the browser tab, so the job is done in a minute and no file is handed to a server.

Who uses it and for what

  • Students: turn phone shots of lecture slides or handwritten notes into readable pages with the Document preset.
  • Offices and HR: tidy up photographed receipts, signed forms and staff portraits before they go into a report or an ID badge layout.
  • Real estate agents: brighten dim interior shots and give small listing photos a 2x boost for larger screens.
  • Freelancers and online sellers: sharpen product pictures taken in weak light and remove the grey veil before uploading them to a shop.
  • Teachers: clean scanned worksheets so they print with white backgrounds and dark text.
  • Family archives: the Old photo preset fights the yellow or red tint, grain and dust found on faded prints.

Getting the crispest output

Start with Auto and only touch the sliders if something looks off. For grainy evening shots, push noise reduction up and keep sharpening moderate, otherwise the grain gets emphasised too. Files of roughly 6 megapixels or less are set to 2x from the start, while bigger ones begin at their original dimensions. Choose PNG when you plan to edit the result further, or JPG with a quality setting of 90 or more when file size matters.

Good to know

This is classic image processing, not generative AI, so it will never invent faces or letters. Transparent PNG and WebP pictures stay transparent unless you save them as JPG, where the empty areas become white. On iPhone and iPad, very large photos are first reduced to about 16 megapixels so the browser can handle them.

Answers

Questions people ask about this task

How do I make a blurry photo sharper without editing software?

Open the picture here, keep the Auto preset and raise the Sharpen slider if edges still look soft. Check the 100% detail tab before saving, because the Full image view is scaled down to fit the screen and hides fine edges.

Will enlarging a small picture make it pixelated?

Much less than a plain resize. Lanczos resampling with a follow-up unsharp mask keeps edges smooth and crisp, although detail that the camera never recorded cannot be created.

Is there a size limit for the upscaled file?

Yes, it depends on the memory of your device: roughly 40 megapixels on well-equipped computers, 25 on typical ones and 16 on iPhone or iPad. When 4x does not fit, the largest factor that does is used and you are told so.

Can I clean up a scanned page or a photo of a whiteboard?

Yes. The Document preset turns grey or yellow paper white, makes writing darker and wipes out isolated dust dots while leaving lines and letters intact.

Do I need an account or an app?

No. It runs in any modern browser on desktop or phone, free of charge, with no registration and no watermark on the output.

Does the tool keep my camera data?

No. EXIF details such as camera model or location are not carried into the new file. Orientation is applied to the pixels, so the picture still appears the right way up.
