Toolbox help and answers
Practical answers about using Best-Converter at work, at school or at home.
Keeping your files private
Does my document get sent to your servers?
It does not. Opening, converting and saving all happen in the browser on your device. A file only reaches us if you are signed in and decide to keep a result in My documents.
Can I use the toolbox for sensitive paperwork?
Yes. Employment contracts, passport copies, bank statements and doctor letters are handled on your own machine, so no server ever holds a copy that could be exposed.
Why is the first run of some tools slower?
Text recognition, translation, transcription and the video tools rely on language files, an AI model or a media engine. The browser fetches that component once from a public content delivery network and keeps it, while your own files are still processed locally.
Is a copy of my result stored anywhere?
Not by us, since your files never reach us. Anything you choose to keep in My documents stays in your account until you remove it.
Supported files and limits
What kinds of files can the toolbox open?
Office and text files: PDF, DOC and DOCX, XLSX, XLS, ODS and CSV, PPTX, RTF, EPUB, TXT and Markdown. Pictures: JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, TIFF, GIF, BMP and AVIF. Media: MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV, AVI, MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG and others, with transcripts saved as TXT, SRT or VTT.
How large can my file be?
We do not set a maximum. What counts is the memory of the device doing the work: a computer usually copes with documents of several hundred megabytes, while a phone may run out of room with a huge PDF or a long video.
How long will I wait for a result?
Usually a few seconds for documents and pictures. Text recognition, translation, transcription and video jobs use your own processor, so long files can take several minutes; a progress bar keeps you informed and you can stop whenever you like.
Does the result keep the original layout?
The tools aim to keep wording, fonts, tables and pictures where they were. Rare fonts, busy page designs and scans can need a little touching up, so hold on to your source file.
Cost and sign-up
Does Best-Converter cost money?
No. You can use every tool without paying, without an account and without a watermark. Optional paid extras may come later, and the core toolbox stays free.
Do I have to register first?
No registration is needed for any tool. A free account simply gives you My documents, a place to keep results and reopen PDFs in the editor from a different device.
Will my files carry a logo or stamp?
No. What you save is exactly the output of the tool, without branding, stamps or added pages.
Phones, computers and browsers
Is there software to install?
There is nothing to install. Best-Converter works in the web browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.
Does the toolbox work on a phone?
It does. Pages adapt to small screens and each tool runs in mobile browsers. With Scan to PDF you can also photograph paper documents with the phone camera.
Which browser should I use?
A current release of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari is ideal. Outdated browsers may miss technology such as WebAssembly that certain tools depend on.
Can I use a tool without internet?
After the tool page and its components have finished loading, the actual conversion carries on without a connection.
Getting help
Where do I send a bug report?
Email support@best-converter.online with the name of the tool and the kind of file that failed. Every message gets a reply.
Can I request a new tool?
Please do. Let us know the starting format and the one you need; the most requested tools are the ones we add first.
Help for a single tool
Each tool page ends with answers about that task. Good places to start: PDF to Word, Compress PDF, Merge PDF, JPG to PDF, Sign PDF, Image to Text, Video Converter. Or open a whole shelf of the toolbox: PDF converter, PDF tools, image tools, video and audio tools.
