Something went wrong
Change a PDF without any software
Pick a PDF from your computer or phone. Got a few of them? They can be joined into a single document before you start.
Use the toolbar to retype lines, type notes, mark things up, place a logo or initials, and put pages in the right order and orientation.
Hit Done to save the finished PDF, or turn it straight into a Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG or PNG file.
Everything a PDF job needs, in one toolbox
Fix typos without the source file
Lost the original Word document? Retype a wrong line right on the page, or drop a fresh text box anywhere in the size, colour and weight you want.
Mark up drafts and worksheets
Grade with ticks and crosses, circle problems with ellipses, point at them with arrows, highlight key passages or scribble freehand notes in any colour.
Complete forms and approvals
Type answers onto a flat form, drop in a photo or company logo, and finish with a signature you draw, type or upload as an image.
Tidy the page set
Turn sideways scans upright, trim margins in exact millimetres, drag pages into a new order, remove extras, add an empty page or append a second PDF.
What people do with a free PDF editor
Most PDF chores are small: one wrong date, a missing initial, a page scanned upside down. Best-Converter puts all the fixes in one browser tab, so you can finish the job in minutes instead of hunting for the file the PDF came from.
Typical jobs
- Students: highlight readings, scribble margin notes on lecture slides and add arrows to diagrams before an exam.
- Office and HR teams: correct a name in an offer letter, type a start date onto a contract and attach the signed policy pages as one document.
- Freelancers: stamp a logo on an invoice, sign a quote and send it back the same hour.
- Real estate agents: tick boxes on an inspection checklist and crop scanned floor plans to the useful area.
- Teachers: mark worksheets with ticks and crosses, or begin from an empty A4 sheet to sketch a quick exercise.
How your changes are saved
The pages you load are not rebuilt. Everything you add sits on a layer above them and is written into the document at export, which keeps the original wording crisp and selectable. Ctrl+Z steps back, Ctrl+Y steps forward, Ctrl+F finds a word and Ctrl+S downloads.
Set up before you drop the file
The chips under the drop zone choose the starting tool, for example Sign for a quick signature or Whiteout for a cleanup. Adding two or more PDFs offers to merge them first. Empty files, files that only pretend to be PDFs and password-locked ones are caught on this page, with a suggestion for what to try next.
Nothing to upload
Because the work happens on your device, sensitive paperwork such as payslips, leases or medical forms never travels to a server, unless you decide to store a copy in your account.

Questions people ask about this task
Is there a catch with this free PDF editor?
None. Text changes, markup, signatures, page tools and the final download cost nothing, and the result carries no watermark. An account is optional and only matters if you want your saved documents kept in it.
Do I need to install software to edit a PDF?
No program or plugin is required. The editor runs in an up-to-date browser on a computer, tablet or phone, and the document is processed on that device rather than sent to a server.
Why does my retyped text look different from the rest of the page?
Replacement lines are written in a standard sans-serif typeface, since the fonts embedded in the original file are not reused. In documents where the exact look matters, keep replacements short.
Can I fix a mistake in a scanned PDF?
A scan is a photo of paper, so there is no text to click on. Paint over the error with a Whiteout box (the Eraser in the editor toolbar) and type the correct words on top of it.
Is Whiteout safe for hiding personal data?
No. It only paints a white rectangle over the area; the covered words remain inside the file and can still be selected or copied. Treat it as a cosmetic fix, never as redaction.
What about huge or locked PDFs?
Big files are handled by your own device, so there is no set size cap, but above 150 MB you get a heads-up because phones may run short of memory. A PDF that asks for a password has to go through Unlock PDF first; files with owner restrictions open with a warning that saving may not work.
