Turn a TXT file into a PDF
Drop one .txt file or a whole batch on the page. In a hurry? Paste the words straight from your clipboard instead.
Set the paper, typeface, margins and spacing; the sample sheet redraws with every tweak.
Hit the convert button and save the result, or keep a copy in My documents to reopen later.
Why save a TXT file as PDF here
It reads the file before laying it out
A shopping list stays simple, a README written in Markdown gets proper headings and bullets, a spreadsheet export lands in a grid, and a script is printed in fixed-width type so columns line up.
No surprises at print time
You see the first sheet and the expected number of pages before anything is created, so a twenty-page log never arrives when you expected two.
Foreign letters done right
Old notepad files are decoded automatically, with a manual encoding menu for stubborn cases, and words in Romanian, Polish, Greek or Russian keep every accent. You can still highlight and copy every word in the finished document.
One file or a whole stack
Each TXT can get its own PDF, or all of them can be stacked into one document with every file starting on a fresh page. Free, with no account required and no stamp on your pages.
TXT file to PDF for everyday jobs
Plain text is easy to write and awkward to share: it opens in a different font on every computer, long lines run off the screen and nothing prints with page numbers. Turning it into a PDF fixes all of that, and this tool does it without uploading a single byte of your text.
Who reaches for it
- Students turn lecture notes typed in Notepad into a printable handout, with double spacing for annotations in the margin.
- Developers attach a server log or a config file to a support ticket as a PDF with line numbers switched on, so everyone can refer to "line 214".
- Office teams convert a CSV report from accounting software into a table that prints cleanly on A4 or US Letter.
- Writers export a Markdown manuscript and get real chapter headings, block quotes and lists instead of hash signs and asterisks.
- Teachers combine a week of worksheets saved as separate TXT files into one document for the class.
Tips for a better result
Choose Serif for long reading, Mono for anything with aligned columns, or leave Auto to let the tool decide for each file. A5 suits booklets, while A3 gives very wide tables more room. If a file is detected as the wrong kind, the Layout menu under Advanced options lets you force plain text, code, Markdown or table mode. Minified JSON is indented automatically, and the tab width can be set to 2, 4 or 8 spaces.
What it will not do
Word, RTF and image files are refused with a pointer to the matching tool, because they are not plain text. Extremely large files may run out of memory on a low-memory device; splitting them or raising the font size helps.
Other things you can save as PDF
Questions people ask about this task
How can I make a PDF from a notepad file?
Drag the .txt onto this page, adjust the look if you want, and press Convert to PDF. The work happens inside your browser tab, so no app needs to be installed.
Can I merge several TXT files into one PDF?
Yes. Add them together and switch on "Combine into one PDF". Each file begins on a new page of the same document.
Does it work with a CSV export from Excel or Google Sheets?
It does. Values are placed in a grid with the header row in bold, and that header comes back at the top of each new page. Very wide sheets can switch to landscape automatically.
Can I add page numbers or a title?
Yes. "Page 1 of N" numbering is on by default and can sit at the bottom center or bottom right. A title is optional: print it once on page one or as a running header on every sheet.
My accented letters turned into gibberish. How do I fix it?
Open Advanced options and pick the encoding the file was saved in, such as Windows-1250 for Central European text or KOI8-R for older Russian files. The sample page refreshes immediately.
Which scripts are not supported yet?
Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indic scripts and emoji are not covered by the bundled fonts and print as empty boxes. Right-to-left writing such as Arabic or Hebrew is not handled either. A warning appears before you convert if your text has characters the fonts lack.
