Quick guide

Add your signature to a PDF

01

Pick the document you were asked to sign. The signing editor opens with it straight away.

02

Create a signature on the pad, as typed lettering or from a picture, then move it onto the signature line and adjust the size.

03

Press Done to grab the finished file, or keep a copy in My documents for later.

What you get

A signing toolbox that gets the paperwork done

Three signature sources

Sketch it on the pad, enter your name to get script-style lettering, or upload a photo of the signature you wrote on paper. Blue, black or any other colour works for sketched and typed versions.

Every page that asks for it

Contracts often want a full signature on the last page and initials elsewhere. Drop in as many copies as needed, type a date beside them and tick the boxes on application forms.

Stays on your computer or phone

Your browser handles the whole job, so a lease, payslip or NDA never travels to a server. That matters for confidential HR and client files.

No cost, no registration, no watermark

Skip the trial period and the email sign-up. Nothing is stamped on your pages, and the finished document can be printed or turned into Word, JPG or PNG right after.

Add signature to PDF files for everyday paperwork

Plenty of jobs end with the same request: "sign and send it back". Instead of hunting for a printer, you can put your signature on the document right here and return it within a minute. Nothing to install, and the file never leaves your device. Here is how different people use it.

Who uses it, and for what

  • Students sign internship agreements, permission slips and scholarship forms from a laptop or phone.
  • HR and office teams countersign offer letters, timesheets and expense claims without a stack of paper.
  • Freelancers return client contracts and NDAs the same day, then turn the signed copy into Word if edits follow.
  • Tenants and landlords sign leases and inventory checklists, ticking boxes and dating each page.
  • Teachers sign report forms and trip consent documents before passing them on.

Getting a signature that looks natural

On the drawing pad, write slowly and a little larger than on paper; the editor trims the empty space around your strokes. Dark blue ink reads as handwritten on most prints. If you prefer your real autograph, photograph it on plain white paper in daylight and crop tightly before uploading.

Limits worth knowing

The tool opens one PDF at a time, so a batch of forms is signed file by file. If several pages need your mark, place a fresh copy of the signature on each one. Very large documents, above roughly 250 MB, can take a while to open on some devices. What you add is an image of your signature, not a certificate-based digital ID, so it does not prove identity on its own.

Answers

Questions people ask about this task

How can I add a signature to a PDF without printing it?

Open the file here, create your signature on screen and place it on the right line. Press Done and you get a signed PDF ready to email back, with no printer or scanner involved.

Can I add my signature to a PDF on my phone?

Yes. The editor runs in a mobile browser, and you can sign with your fingertip on the drawing pad. A stylus on a tablet gives smoother strokes.

Will people accept a PDF signed like this?

For everyday items such as rental forms, timesheets, quotes and school permission slips, a simple electronic signature is usually accepted in the EU and the US. It carries no identity certificate, so for notarised deeds or anything that demands a qualified signature, check with whoever asked for it.

Does the signed document get sent anywhere?

No. Reading the PDF, stamping your signature and building the new file all happen locally in your browser tab. A copy goes to My documents only when you press Save; if you are logged in, that copy is stored in your account.

How do I insert a scanned signature into a PDF?

Sign a sheet of white paper, scan or photograph it, then pick that image under Upload. Crop close to the ink first; a PNG with a transparent background blends in best.

Why does the tool warn me before I sign?

A warning appears when the PDF already holds a certificate-based digital signature, because your new signature creates a copy in which that one no longer validates. You are also told when the author restricted editing, and files that need a password to open must go through Unlock PDF first.
