Change a JPG into a PNG
Pick your JPEG pictures, a single logo or a whole folder of product shots, or drag them onto this page.
Switch on the transparent background option, tap the backdrop if needed and nudge the tolerance until the checkerboard shows tidy edges.
Save the finished pictures one at a time or grab a single ZIP archive that holds all of them.
What this toolbox does for your JPEG files
Tap to choose the colour that disappears
Off-white paper, a grey studio sheet or a coloured wall: tap that shade in the preview and it becomes the one that gets cleared. Leave it alone and the tool reads the picture border to guess the backdrop for you.
Soft outlines without a halo
An edge smoothing slider fades the outline gradually and strips the old backdrop tint out of the border pixels, so a cut-out logo looks clean on dark slides as well as light pages.
Tight framing and ready-made sizes
Crop to content removes the empty see-through margin, while presets such as Full HD, 1280 px or a 512 px icon shrink big camera shots for websites, apps and online listings.
One setup for the whole batch
Every JPEG in the run gets identical treatment, and your last choices are remembered on this device for the next visit. A file that cannot be read is skipped and named at the end instead of stopping the job.
JPEG to PNG with transparent background: who needs it
A JPEG always fills its rectangle with colour, which is why a logo pasted onto a slide or website often arrives inside an ugly white box. Saving it as a PNG and clearing that box fixes the problem. A few typical jobs:
- Online sellers photograph items on white card and need cut-outs that sit neatly on a coloured shop banner.
- Office and HR teams scan a handwritten signature on paper and want to drop it onto a contract or an offer letter.
- Teachers and students lift diagrams or school crests from worksheets into presentations with a dark theme.
- Freelancers and real estate agents receive a client or agency logo as a JPEG and have to overlay it on photos, flyers or listings.
Tips for clean edges
Begin with the default tolerance and watch the checkerboard. If grey speckles from JPEG compression or a soft shadow remain, push the tolerance up a few points at a time; if parts of the subject start to disappear, you went too far. A little edge smoothing removes the pale fringe that often surrounds dark text. Switch the preview to the dark background before saving, because leftover halos show up most clearly there.
What it cannot do
The tool removes one even backdrop colour, not complex scenery, so hair against a busy street or a person in a living room needs a dedicated cut-out editor. Detail already lost to JPEG compression will not come back either; the PNG simply stops further loss when you edit it later.
Good to know
Sideways phone shots are turned upright, the original print resolution travels into the PNG, and location data from the camera is dropped. Each finished picture may reach 100 megapixels, and the processing happens entirely on your own device.

Questions people ask about this task
How do I remove the white background from a JPEG signature?
Add the scanned or photographed signature, switch on Make background transparent and raise the tolerance until the paper grain vanishes in the preview. Turn on Crop to content to get a compact PNG you can place into a contract or letter.
Can a JPEG have a transparent background at all?
No, the JPEG format has no alpha channel, so a "transparent" JPEG from an image search usually has a checkerboard painted into its pixels. This tool clears plain single-colour backdrops, so that painted pattern will not vanish cleanly.
Will white parts inside my logo turn see-through too?
Not with the default setting, which only clears backdrop that touches the picture border. Pick "Every pixel of this colour" if you also want the holes inside letters such as O or A cleared.
Does this work on product shots taken on a table or outdoors?
It works when the item sits on one even colour, such as a white sweep or a sheet of card. A kitchen table or a garden has no single backdrop colour, so this colour-based tool cannot separate it cleanly.
Will the PNG take up more space than my JPEG?
For photos, yes, often several times more, because PNG keeps each pixel without compression loss. Simple logos with few colours are saved as a compact palette PNG, and the preview shows the exact size before you commit.
Do I have to install software or sign up?
No. The whole job runs in a browser tab on a computer or phone, the pictures stay on your device and the result carries no watermark.
